Faith is a dog who was born with no front legs but has learned to walk on her hind legs. Her tail is in constant wag-motion, indicating her love of life and of all she encounters. And now, she has become a regular on military bases and in military hospitals where soldiers, who have become amputees while deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, see her as a real inspiration for themselves: The way she has learned to get around and the joy that she expresses just being alive and mobile, even if it is not the normal way, gives them the hope that they too can go on with their lives and even find a joy in being alive.
Life is amazing! Yes, sometimes the unfortunate happens and everything changes from what we were used to. There is nothing we can do to change what has happened, but we have a will and can choose, even more consciously than Faith the dog, to live life well and joyfully.
It was a great idea to see in Faith a real opportunity to serve our wounded veterans. She is doing great work for them. She give us all something to think about when life’s speed bumps surprise us. You go, Faith. Thanks for what you are doing for our veterans.
