(CBS Houston) One “Duck Dynasty” star called homosexuality illogical.

Phil Robertson, one of the stars of the A&E reality show and founder of Duck Commander, made the comments in a recent interview with GQ.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina – as a man – would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me,” Robertson stated. “I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Robertson described in the interview how sin is becoming acceptable in America and that the country needs to turn back to its Christian values.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” Robertson told GQ. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.” Read more via CBS Houston…

  1. He's missed a fundamental point: We do not legislate religion or even morality. Gone are the days when homosexuality was a 'mental illness' and could be 'cured'. If you don't like homosexuality, don't practice it, but it certainly isn't in anyone's purview to dictate to others what they can and can't do, as long as what is being done harms no one in the process. He may think homosexuality is a sin, which is fine, for him. Progress can only move us forward, never back.

  2. what is your take on a nativity scene at a court house? if " it certainly isn't in anyone's purview to dictate to others what they can and can't do, as long as what is being done harms no one in the process", a nativity scene at a court house in a religious community should not be an issue right?

  3. Tim Ceko I have no problem with a Nativity if it is accompanied by a Menorah and Cornucopia for Kwanza, maybe a star and crescent. Equality, sir, applies to all. You see, putting up ONLY a nativity asserts Christianity's sovereignty of us as a nation, and we are a secular nation of Christians, Jews, Buddhists, etc. So a lone nativity injures the equality of non-Christians.

  4. Yusef Khouri Ibn Al-Ma'tshil – How many Jews signed the Declaration of Independence or the United States Constitution? How about Muslims? Afrikaans? Buddhists?

This nation was founded by whom?

  5. Not everyone believes in your god. And, according to the law of the US, they aren't under any compulsion to do so.

  6. Yusef Khouri Ibn Al-Ma'tshil I am afraid that I must disagree with you. If the holidays overlap, then private groups of the faiths involved should be allowed to put up their own displays on Public Property. If it is not your Holiday, then no display. If it were a Christian Holiday, but not any other Religion , only they should be putting up a display, likewise any other Religion should not have to compete for space during their Holidays. If two Holidays should fall on the same dates, then everyone should just learn to share and each should be given equal space.

  7. homosexuality is a choice the same having sex with lots of men or women, or having a drink or taking drugs or many other things that we may desire to do. Jesus says if you choose to follow me you must lay down those things of the flesh and obey the Lord, and denying those lusts of the flesh is one of those things we choose to lay down, so regardless of what sex we are attracted to we cannot call ourselves followers of Christ and fulfill those fleshly desires as well, we must choose one or the other, in essence gay people are trying to claim their fleshly desires are just who they are so the have an excuse to disobey God and for some be gay and a practising Christian also, doesnt work its like me trying to be a christian and have adulterous affairs fopr example

  8. Chris Lowe Afrikaans is a language. On to where I think you may be leaning …

“The civil government functions with complete success by the total separation of the Church from the State.”
    -James

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man"- Thomas Jefferson

"Lighthouses are more useful than churches."- Benjamin Franklin

"The New Testament, they tell us, is founded upon the prophecies of the Old; if so, it must follow the fate of its foundation.'- Thomas Pain

  9. Yusef, the nativity scenes are because of Christmas… You know it's a national holiday don't you??? A nativity doesn't need to be accompanied by anything. Your faulty logic exposes your athiestic bias. Oh, but you pretend to be such a thoughtful guy. If you have a problem with Christmas then get the holiday repealed by congress.. Ha ha! But good luck with that though because it's a money maker.

  10. Gene Tanna I don't really care about homosexuality, it's none of my business what two consenting adults do with themselves, as long as it in no way jeopardizes my liberties.

  11. And adultery, fornication, etc aren't 'illegal', either. What consenting adults do amongst themselves as long as it is not harmful to others is their own business and no one else's.

  12. I guess when what you call a god is also a homosexual/pedophile and into bestiality then I guess you will stick up for homosexuality.

  13. I don't really care what homosexuals do, they are entitled to human dignity and legal protection just like anyone else. And, what did Jesus say on the topic?

  14. Who's normal? You? Why do you care what they do? Does there diddling each other somehow harm you? So why don't you just leave them alone? No one invited you to their wedding …

  15. Warren A. Dobler You are a very wise man whose explanation was right on target. I posted your comment on my FB page (with credit going to you 🙂 )

  16. Homosexuality is SIN at it's worst… period. By the way, moooohammed was a degenerate pedophile. end of story for the so-called "prophet".

  17. Arthur Hayzlett My posts have all been deleted – I, too, pointed out what they don't like to discuss regarding their "god". (I mean, when your first is a goat…..) If you'll notice Yusef has 3 comments in a row with no posts or comments in between. Soon as he sees yours, he will go whining and yours will probably be removed also.

  18. I love that you afford me so much power. I can see your posts, but not my own.

  19. Tracy Powers .. it was indeed removed. Typical muslime crap. Make sure the shit YOU spout is heard or read by everyone, but when someone points out that mooohammed was a degenerate pedophile they go crying about how "unfair" it is. Islam needs to be eradicated from the face of the earth… it is the single most evil thing to have ever existed.

  20. Arthur Hayzlett correct, islam is not a religion. This explains it better than I ever could:

Yusef, you converted in 2012? This is just my opinion, but I believe you converted either for the need for attention, to be "different" or "unique", to piss off your parents, no real reason to be a "victim" or you didn't have a soapbox to stand on and now you do. Congratulations. I'm sure your gf's parents are thrilled.

  21. Actually, her parents are quite accepting. And it wasn't an easy choice to convert. I was a preacher for several years for the church of Christ.

  22. Several things attracted me to Islam, first, I never really agreed with or saw logic in consubstantiation, or the Trinity. Also, the personal modesty and piety in constant prayer really resonated. I already spoke arabic, so I converted

  23. I have more important issues to deal with other than worrying about what two people do behind closed doors, like feeding my children and making sure they have clothes and a house to live in and whether or not they are sick. Quite frankly, homosexuals don't affect me so i don't care about their lifestyle choice. I do however care about unfair discrimination and exclusion because of that choice, and anyone else's life choices… religion, Creed or otherwise.

  24. Chris Lowe This nation was never lost that it had to be found. It was stolen from the indigenous Indians. Further, do some research about those who wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence and Constitution and you will find that MOST were Deists.

  25. Yusef Khouri Ibn Al-Ma'tshil And now Phil Robertson has been put on "hiatus" due to his comments about gays. The US is now so eaten up by political correctness Christians can't even say what we feel without being retaliated against. They have just unleashed a $hitstorm.

  26. While I don't agree with his comments, I don't think what he said warrants dismissal. Everyone has the right to free speech, even if it's ignorant.

  27. Tracy Powers you do realize the Bible called Lot a RIGHTEOUS man, that is in both the Old and New Testament…a "righteous" man who committed incest with his own daughters.

  28. Tracy Powers Your posts are NOT deleted. We can still read them. This is an issue I have noticed the past few days on Facebook and comments sections that get posted under Facebook profiles.

  29. Perhaps not ignorant, but rather arrogant. Doesn't Isaiah say that no one can know the mind of Allah? And yet Phil is clearly uttering judgement, not on individual merits, but on his interpretation of a very flawed book. Your New Testament is a wretched mess of agnostic bickering. Do you understand the Nicene council'a hand in the arranging of the Gospels? Do you know why there are only 4 gospels instead of the 20 – 30 commonly used in the first century? Irenaeus. His justification was that since there are four winds and four points on a compass, there should be 4 gospels. Entirely arbitrary.

But back to your question. What did JESUS say about homosexuality?

  30. Patti Smith You do realize that you and I both are sinners, right? Idk, you may not believe that you are a sinner so I will speak for myself. Like Lot, I've also been declared righteous by God. Not because of anything I have done, but because of what Christ has done in me. In the end, I will be proclaimed righteous because I have been united to the true Son of God. Nobody can be righteous apart from Christ. That's why Lot was considered righteous even in the middle of his sin. 2 Peter 2:7 shows just why the the gospel is so amazing—Peter could call a man with so many obvious flaws righteous because of the promise to Abraham. And God did not forget His promise to Abraham.

  31. Patti Smith I know some are on here – the one that I wrote earlier, a really loooong one that took a lot of thought and time is not on here.

  32. Yusef Khouri Ibn Al-Ma'tshil You were the Church of Christ preacher who turned his back on Jesus Christ and turned muslim. I believe we both know what the Bible says about those who turn their back on him? Eh?

I have NOTHING more to say to someone that refers to the New Testament as "a wretched mess of agnostic bickering." Only God the Father, the Son AND the Holy Spirit can help you.

  33. Patti Smith You do realize that we are ALL sinners? Well, I will only speak for myself. I've also been declared righteous. Not because of anything I did – but what Christ did for me. In the end, I'll also be considered righteous because I have been united to the true Righteous One. No one is going to be considered righteous by Christ without Christ. That's why Lot is considered righteous even in the middle of his sin. 2 Peter 2:7 just shows how truly wonderful God is— How could Peter call a man like Lot righteous? Because of God's promise to Abraham. And if we are in Christ, then God has rescued us as well because he remembers his promise to Abraham.

  34. Tracy Powers I was raised in church and just blindly believed what I was told for years. As an adult though….when reading the Bible, I have more questions than answers. I believe that much of what is in the Bible was for the time in which it was written. Homosexuality…most people point to the story of Sodom and Gommorah, but let's visit that story…the angels came to see Lot's family and the men of the city wanted them. So, what does Lot do? He offers his virgin daughters to a rape minded mob. Then, when leaving the city, his wife looks back and is turned into a pillar of salt. Hello, who is the depraved one? The man who offers his virgin daughters up or a woman who looks back? Then, once in the caves, he commits incest with these daughters. So where was the righteousness for Lots wife? Guess she didn't get any because she was a woman and well you know what the BIble says about women, right? So God destroys a whole city due to homosexuality, but spares the "righteous" Lot? And again, when Lot committed incest with his daughters, why wasn't he destroyed then? I think I am a fairly logical, person….I think that homosexuals who are consenting can't be as bad as man who slept with and impregnated both his daughters. There are other questions as well. Andrea Yates, from Texas, drowned her children and said that God told her to do it. Do we believe that? NO WAY…but let's consider Abraham who claimed that God told him to kill his son Isaac as a sacrifice. If this had happened in today's world, he would be imprisoned. But no, he is considered one of the great patriarchs of the Bible. But that is not all, Abraham also married and committed incest with his sister Sarah. Told her to lie, because apparently even in her old age, she was so beautiful he thought he would be killed if they thought she was his wife. Then he has a child with Hagar.

  35. Does he treat this child or the woman he impregnated well? No. He banished them to live in the wilderness. In today's society, he would be considered a deadbeat dad. And Sarah, after she ordered her husband to sleep with Hagar, she was very jealous and beat her. Real Christian like there right? Or how about the story of Esther…we are given chapter, after chapter of the poor Jews and how Haman was such a bad man and wanted to kill them, etc., etc., so what happens? Esther pulls her magic and gets the king to save the Jews…but it doesn't stop there, like the Sunday School teacher does…rather the Jews then slaughtered the Gentiles in the city. Sounds like really loving Godly people if you ask me. Or how about Paul, who tells us in Romans how we are supposed to treat our slaves. If he really was getting word direct from God, I would imagine that God should have told him –tell those people that slavery is WRONG. Did he? No, he told us how to treat them. Why? Because owning slaves was considered okay back then. Then the old testament is full of all kinds of wrongdoing…David committed adultery with and then killed Bathsheba's husband so he could have her. Was he struck down? No, but Ananias and Sapphira of the Bible, they didn't kill anyone, they lied, but they were struck dead on the spot. The Old Testament reads in many parts like a porn magazine. If my children came home from school with required reading that spoke about rape, incest, genocide, infanticide, murder, etc…I would be at the school raising hell. But kids are encouraged to read the Bible, right? These are just a very few examples of things that are in the Bible, that were okay back in the day, but in today's society, these "Christians" would be arrested and in most cases, would probably get the death penalty from fundamentalist Christians.

  36. Patti Smith You seem to be looking for a reason to NOT believe – and I'm not the one to go to for that. One sin is as bad as another sin. WE ARE ALL SINNERS. Abraham was willing to do whatever God told him to do. That is faith. Lot's wife, when looking back, showed that she was not wanting to go forward to in a better place. She yearned to go back. He taught others and US that when we look back to our sinful youth or desire to be of the "world" – drinking, partying, drugs, putting other things first, etc. that we desire that old life. The Bible is as relevant today as it was back in that day. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. God loves us, even when we sin. None of us are worthy. That's what is so comforting, to me, about His love. No doubt the people back then were just as sinful as the ones now. Even some of those that KNEW Him doubted. (Thomas and of course many more)

  37. If you know anything about the "HOLY WORD OF (insert imaginary idol here)" you would know that the Christian God, Yawei, is the most stupid, arrogant, self centered, Irrational, and atrocious, barbaric, barbarous, bestial, brutal, brute, brutish, callous, cold-blooded, cruel, fiendish, hard-hearted, heartless, inhuman, inhumane, insensate, sadistic, savage, truculent, uncompassionate, unfeeling, unkind, unkindly, unsympathetic, vicious, Creation ever made by Irrational MAN.
